Heather Preuett Certified Academic Language Therapist in Madisonville LA

Meet Heather Preuett -Your Partner in Reading Success

Certified Academic Language Therapist with over sixteen years of education experience in Louisiana

I’m Heather Preuett, M.Ed, CALT — a Certified Teacher, Reading Specialist, and Certified Academic Language Therapist with a passion for helping children overcome reading challenges. I live in Madisonville, LA with my husband and three children.

With a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction (Reading Specialist), I’ve spent more than sixteen years teaching both general and special education in Louisiana elementary schools and online education platforms.

I understand firsthand the frustration, concern, and hopelessness parents feel when their child struggles with reading. My philosophy is simple: literacy is not just a skill, it's a gateway. When a child learns to read, they unlock opportunity, discover confidence, and step into a lifetime of learning.

Professional Training and Approach

Only a CALT has completed the rigorous, graduate-level training required to deliver dyslexia-specific therapy using programs like Take Flight. The high standards set by the Academic Language Therapy Association (ALTA) demand demonstration of deep expertise across language development, assessment, prescriptive intervention, ethical standards, and even legal advocacy frameworks.
